Airline bans hunting trophies

Airlines are banning the transport of hunting trophies. This is surprising given that the trade is subject to an internationally agreed permitting system under CITES. Presumably there will be an impact on conservation and employment in Southern Africa. It is not immediately clear what the ban will achieve. It appears to be a moral statement by the airlines, i.e. we are signalling that hunting is bad.
