More on alternatives to illegal trade in rhino

Two more rhino related articles in the press this week.

Firstly, today in the New York Times, author Richard Conliff makes a strong case for the auctioning of permits to shoot an old rhino in Namibia.

On Friday, the Economist published this article on how prohibiting trade is ineffective way to protect species – the fines and prison sentences are essentially business expenses for criminal enterprises that have a monopoly in the trade for highly demanded wildlife products
